It's over. Travis Alexander may have lost his life at the hands of a psychopathic killer, but he gained justice at the hands of twelve jurors who sat through over 4 months of testimony and evidence. Today Travis can truly rest in peace. And while we celebrate this victory, I am struck by the people left behind. I'm talking about the many men and women (primarily women) who have supported Jodi's side of this story, and who now feel justice has failed Jodi, and therefore has failed themselves by extension.I've talked about the group over on the Jodi is innocent website, who seem to be made up of survivors of domestic violence, who saw in Jodi a kindred spirit—a fellow survivor who had to take a life so she could live her life. These people were convinced Jodi was innocent because they saw themselves in her story. What they failed to realize was that Jodi knew that self-defense was the only option open to her. Self-defense on it's face would be hard to prove, after all she was in his house. She had to say she was a victim of domestic violence. That was her only hope.In that story though, she has victimized even more people. Many of the people who support her had to construct the most fantastical theories and stories to believe Jodi's stories. Anyone reading that site could plainly see that these people were covering and making excuses for Jodi, just as they likely covered for and made excuses for the abusers in real life. Now these people, survivors of their own horrific abuse feel betrayed by the court and the public. How many of those who believed in Jodi will push their own abuse further down, feeling that if we didn't believe Jodi, we won't believe them? This is not the fault of the public, this is the fault of Jodi Arias. Jodi Arias who thought no jury would ever convict her because she thought she had Plan A, Plan B, Plan C and Plan D, covered and could manipulate the court and the juror's sentiments to gain an acquittal.Jodi did not plan on Plan J for Justice. She did not plan on Plan J for Juan Martinez who gave a voice to a man who was rendered speechless in his tragic death. In the days to come, the jury will read and hear about all the evidence that wasn't presented for whatever reason. They may read some articles that support Jodi that make them uncomfortable as they wonder if they got it right. But then they will read the vast amount of articles and evidence that shows what really happened that day. They will realize that Jodi Arias is a diabolical killer who planned for Travis to suffer and to die. They will realize that Jodi offered a plea bargain to 2nd degree murder and they will realize with horror that no one pleas UP when plea bargaining, they always plead DOWN. That will confirm there was never any self defense. There was never any manslaughter. That there was never any murder 2. By Jodi's own words, they will see she tried to plea down from the crime she really committed. When Jodi offered that plea deal, it was not to "save Travis's family from the truth about Travis" it was to save Jodi's life because she knew the evidence supported a murder 1 conviction. Juan Martinez is a smart lawyer. He is evaluated based on his conviction rate. His whole reputation hinges on that conviction rate. When Jodi offered that plea, she offered Juan Martinez another notch on his conviction belt. The easiest thing in the world would be for Juan Martinez to take the plea. He automatically gets credit, and save the taxpayers and state of Arizona millions of dollars by not moving forward with a trial.Juan Martinez didn't accept that plea because he knew he had the evidence to charge her for the crime she committed. He would never put his reputation on the line if he was not in the pursuit of justice. The Jodi supporters have to realize that Juan Martinez had everything to lose if he didn't have the evidence to back him up.For Jodi Arias supporters, I hope they find peace from not only their feelings of betrayal, but from the abuse that still holds them hostage. I hope they don't encounter another Jodi Arias and mistakenly believe that she can't harm them. She can. She does. And she did.I hope those supporters will find in the coming years that Jodi Arias is deserving of the verdict handed down today. We haven't heard the last of Jodi Arias and her crazy train. I know her type. She will write a book, similar to OJ's, "If I Did It" book (not sure of title, but close enough). She will try to fictionalize the real story, but like OJ's book, we will read the story between the lines. She will be as obsessed with being 'right' as she was about pursuing Travis. She can't stand that she can't manipulate her story. She has to put Travis back in that bad light. She has to lash out at Nancy Grace and the prosecution. She has to point the finger. The verdict today shuts up Jodi Arias. The jurors silenced Jodi's voice like Jodi silenced Travis's.Rest in peace Travis.Follow on Twitter: @justdatruth2012What did you feel about the verdict? Was justice done? Please comment below.
